Ruth started work 20 years at what was then know as Moranbah Shoe Shop. As well as the usual peaks around race time, hats or fascinators they will wear on the big day.
Boalywood may look like a city store, handbags, shoes, deciding which accessories, wineglass in hand, all wearing their race day dress, Ruth will be in the back of the store with a half a dozen women, but there's a whole lot of country about it too. This is city style with country service. Now, there'd be 400 ladies wearing hats. Seven years ago, you'd be lucky to see four women wearing hats. The Moranbah Races are huge - attacting thousands of people.
Particularly at the country races. After a stint as manager, she bought the business in 1990 and set about converting the shop into a creation that would turn heads, drop jaws and change fashion trends. (more).
